Background
I am Kaiza Ilomo, originally from Makete, Njombe, Tanzania, but living in Dar es Salaam now for work. I believe technology is a great equalizer. I have a sustained interest in effectively leveraging technology to leave the world a better place than I found it.
My Journey
My journey into technology began when a senior student at Kibaha Secondary School volunteered to teach us basic computer use including how to turn a computer on and off 😂. Driven with a deep curiosity about how data and systems can solve real-world socio-economic problems, I have progressively self-propelled deeper into computer science world. Throughout my academic and professional career, I’ve had the privilege of working on diverse exciting projects spanning:
- Data Engineering: Building scalable web applications and data pipelines.
- Research Systems: Developing information systems to support disease vector research and infectious disease modelling.
- Enterprise Solutions: Creating custom ERP modules for business process automation.
- Predictive Analytics: Using machine learning to predict Internet outages globally
Vision
I believe that technology, when built and used strategically, can be a powerful catalyst for positive change. I am highly motivated to building robust software, data and AI systems that enable organizations of all sizes across geographies to make data-driven decisions and drive sound digital transformation.
Location
I am based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and am open to non-9-to-5 opportunities that allow me to contribute to meaningful projects in data science, machine learning, and big data engineering.
